PART TIME MATHS & ENGLISH

Helping you improve your maths, English and employability skills

Pathway To Employment

Are you looking for a course to help you improve your maths or English skills as well as your employability skills? If so we have the course for you. We will ask you to sit an initial assessment and diagnostic test, so that we can advise and design the best learning programme for you at the correct level.

English

This course focuses on refreshing and upgrading your English skills, depending on your subject knowledge and your previous qualifications you can study either one of Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications.
On your course you will:

  • Improve your speaking skills in order to express yourself, engage with, listen to and understand others in a range of situations.
  • You will also develop your ability to read different types of text and write and spell with more confidence. You will have the opportunity to take a functional skills English exam at the end of the course.
  • Improve your employability skills including job search, applying for jobs and interview skills.
  • GCSE English courses run from September 2020 – June 2021. Classes take place in the evenings at our Stevenage Campus and there are a variety of times to choose from.
  • If you are a adult learner you’ll join an adults-only GCSE English course full of like-minded people also looking to gain new skills.
    We are enrolling now for Functional Skills English courses.
  • Classes are free and take place during the day or in the evening at our Stevenage Campus.

Maths

  • Whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages as well as measurements of length, weight, capacity, time, temperature and money.
  • You will learn how to read and display data as lists, tables, graphs, charts and also compare data using averages, range and probability. You will have the opportunity to take a functional skills maths exam at the end of the course. Improve your employability skills including job search, applying for jobs and interview skills.
  • GCSE maths courses for adult learners run from September 2020 – June 2021. Classes take place in Stevenage in the evenings and there are a variety of times to choose from.
  • You’ll join an adults-only maths course full of like-minded people also looking to gain new skills.

ESOL

Our ESOL classes are designed to help improve your English language skills to help with work, study and life in the UK.

On this course, you’ll learn about:

  • reading, writing, speaking and listening in English
  • using grammar and improving your use of tenses
  • presentations
  • employability skills
