North Hertfordshire College’s Hitchin campus was buzzing with excitement as we held our annual Student Showcase Awards!
Two successful students from each curriculum were selected as winners for their work during the last academic year. All winners demonstrated an exceptional commitment to their studies and the North Hertfordshire College community.
Judges then selected three students to win the NHC Sporting Excellence Award, NHC Student Voice Award or the NHC Principal’s Award.
The NHC Sporting Excellence Award recognises the student who has demonstrated a strong commitment to their team and their sport, exemplifying strong sportsmanship and leadership throughout their time at college. The NHC Student Voice Award recognises the student who has gone above and beyond in their commitment to representing our student body.
Finally, the NHC Principal’s Award recognises the student who demonstrates all North Hertfordshire College values. The winner is selected by NHC Principal, Kit Davies.
We were joined by successful students, their families and friends, governors and 17 of our employer partners who kindly supported relevant curriculum categories.
The evening began with a drinks and canapes reception, prepared and served by our fantastic Hospitality and Catering learners. Caprese skewers and smoked salmon bellinis were just some of the delicious items on the menu.
Guests then took their seats in the atrium for the start of the ceremony. The room was bursting with pride as we listened to the inspirational achievements of our students throughout last year.

Just listening to the students’ stories and transformational journeys was truly heartwarming, and at times quite emotional, particularly when hearing the challenges students overcame. The tutors’ reactions so clearly reflected their deep care for each learner’s development and success.
