A one-year course that sets you up with all the essential skills and knowledge you need to go on to study for a full Bachelor’s degree.
A two-year course involving practical work that prepares you for degree-level study. These qualifications can even be used to help break you into your dream career!
Higher National Degrees and Certificates which helps you study at higher education level in stages. Once you finish this course, it’s possible for you to from these courses to complete a full bachelor’s degree at university, either through a specific top-up course or by directly entering a degree in year three.
Not got the qualifications yet to progress to one of our HE courses? Don’t worry. We have a range of intensive one-year courses aimed at students over 19 years of age. We will help you find your path with pre-Access and Access courses to your preferred HE course.
If you are over 23, you may not have to pay anything upfront. An Advanced Learner Loan may be available to you. If you complete the course and your degree, the loan for Access may be wiped. Find out if you are eligible here.
We don’t demand any formal qualifications for commencing an Access to HE course at NHC but we do need to make sure that your literacy and numeracy skills are sufficiently developed to cope with the demands of the course.

To apply for one of NHC’s Higher Education degree courses, you’ll need to go through the UCAS website using the course codes which you can find in the course description. For Access to HE courses, please apply directly through the NHC website – just click on the course profiles for more information!
If you’re planning on studying on one of NHC’s Higher Education courses, you may be able to apply for accommodation so that you can move closer to the College. There are a range of options available to help you find the one that’s right for you, whether that’s through the University of Hertfordshire’s student accommodation or elsewhere!
