Higher Education

Our higher education (HE) courses are for you if you want a degree-level qualification in your chosen career field and you meet the entry requirements (48 UCAS points and GCSE maths and English at grade 9-4).

We work in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire to bring you a range of higher education courses which are quality-assured, focused on helping you to realise your potential and to progress to higher levels and into work. All of our foundation and extended degrees are validated and awarded by the University of Hertfordshire. Our Higher National Certificate/Diploma courses are awarded by Pearson’s Education and are directly funded by HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England).

We know that NHC is a stepping stone. That’s why we help you think about and prepare for, what you want to do next throughout your time with us – and during our HE courses, we work with local businesses to make a real difference to your employment prospects.

We offer a wide range of higher education courses. These include a combination of higher national diplomas, foundation degrees and full bachelor’s degrees. Higher education courses are available in the following sector areas:

  • BSC Extended Degree in Science
  • HNCs/HNDs in Art, Fashion and Sport Science
  • Foundation degrees in business and computing technologies

You’ll need to apply through the UCAS website using the course codes which you can find in the course description.

If you are 19+ and want to progress to HE but don’t have the traditional qualifications to get there such as A-levels, we have a range of access to higher education courses which are intensive one-year courses. We also offer a Pre-Access course which will give you the skills to then progress to an Access course.
