Hart Learning Group is seeking committed, community‑focused individuals to join our Board as Governors. This strategic voluntary role helps shape the direction, performance and impact of our colleges and training organisations, ensuring we deliver excellent education.
Role Overview
As a Governor, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and act as a critical friend to senior leaders
- Review and oversee business and financial plans
- Monitor performance and hold leaders to account
- Ensure legal, statutory and charitable responsibilities are met
- Champion student experience, quality and community impact
- Support the appointment and appraisal of the Chief Executive
- Help ensure strong financial stewardship and effective risk management
Governors are also Trustees and must act in the best interests of current and future learners.
About the Organisation:
The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.

You must:
- Complete an annual declaration of eligibility and interests
- Be willing to undertake a DBS check
- Not be bankrupt or recently convicted (as per statutory rules)
