North Hertfordshire College is proud to share that a whopping twelve of our Hospitality and Catering students have been selected to compete in the regional finals of Nestle Toque D’Or 2023!
Nestle Toque D’Or, first launched in 1989, is a hospitality competition which tests students in practical, service-based, and business-focused tasks. It aims to inspire the next generation of food service professionals to aim high and expand their understanding of the hospitality industry. As part of the competition process, learners have the opportunity to work with and learn from leading industry experts and businesses, who judge the tasks.
Representing North Hertfordshire College at the regional finals are:
Milly-Anne Chapman – Level 2 Professional Cookery
Kacper Rudzinski – Level 2 Professional Cookery
James Wheatley – Level 3 Professional Cookery
Phil Maddison – Level 3 Professional Cookery
Emily Simkins – Level 3 Professional Cookery
Anthony Yung – Level 3 Food & Beverage Service
Raheim Saddler – Level 3 Food & Beverage
Rania Bibi – Level 3 Food & Beverage
Kia Timmins – Level 3 Food & Beverage
Alison Watson – Level 3 Food & Beverage
Tom Greenhill – Level 2 Food & Beverage
Jack Beard – Level 2 Food & Beverage
And that’s not all – Level 2 Food & Beverage student Chris Ward has also received a special prize of £100 in Russums vouchers as they were unable to progress further in the competition due to their age.
NHC’s learners have a history of success with Nestle Toque D’Or over the last eight years, including in 2022 when Gemma Gant competed in the Front of House category and Milly-Anne reached the finals of the Canape competition.
This is a great achievement for all our learners. Each category saw only 24 students reach the regional finals, so it’s an exciting moment for so many of our NHC chefs and front-of-house students make it to this stage. Four students competing in the finals also hold EHCPs (Educational Health and Care Plans), and we’re especially proud of their dedication and perseverance to compete.
Stuart Dunlop, Deputy Head of Hospitality & Catering and Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy at North Hertfordshire College, commented: “I’m over the moon that we have not only successfully managed to get students through to the regional finals, but we have had our most successful year ever with five chefs and seven front-of-house students progressing. We have had an amazing year with our students and we know that those who have been selected can perform at the highest level of pressure. For some of our students, this will be their first experience of getting through to the next round in a competition, so already they have done amazingly.”
Best of luck to all our student chefs and front-of-house stars in the competition. Keep your eyes peeled on our Twitter and Facebook for further updates!
