In our continuing work to bridge the gap between education and industry, North Hertfordshire College has been working in association with EMCOR UK! The facilities management engineering company has offered meaningful work placements and apprenticeship opportunities to our level 2/3 electrical and plumbing students through the strategic collaboration, equipping them with the necessary work ready skills to thrive in their chosen profession.
EMCOR UK opened its doors to a select group of 30 of North Hertfordshire College’s students, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in their respective disciplines. Through the programme, students had the opportunity to accompany EMCOR employees throughout the various areas of the sector and develop a stronger understanding of the world of facilities management.
This collaboration offers numerous benefits to both EMCOR UK and the College. For students, it presents a unique opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, allowing them to witness first-hand how concepts and principles translate into real-world scenarios. They also receive mentorship and early advice and guidance from experienced professionals, fostering personal and professional growth whilst expanding their networks.
Simultaneously, EMCOR UK are able to gain new perspectives and innovative ideas from the participating students, who may go on to join the company with fresh ideas. In addition, EMCOR UK have shared several live facilities management vacancies within the company, which a number of students have applied to. This in turn means that some of our students will go on to paid employment with the company (once they complete their NHC courses)!
