Supporting Stevenage Regeneration plans

North Hertfordshire College is partnering with Stevenage Borough Council to provide jobs and training as part of Stevenage town centre’s regeneration plans.

The Stevenage Works partnership agreement will focus on construction and business administration skills. Working together, the partners will provide training and job opportunities, including apprenticeships for young people and unemployed adults. Jobcentre Plus will identify local candidates and North Hertfordshire College will deliver training in basic construction skills, as well as CV and interview training.

The council is also working with Wates and Mulalley on the refurbishment of 550 low-rise flat blocks. All three contractors have committed to providing jobs and training through the Stevenage Works partnership.

Work experience

When you join one of North Hertfordshire College’s Construction courses, you’ll build practical skills to help you lay strong foundations for your future career. Our Construction Hub courses are partnered with the CITB, allowing you to gain valuable on-site experience with our employer partners so that you’re site-ready by the time you finish your course.

Our Plastering, Brick, and Carpentry students engage in community action projects that are designed and set by external organisations and employers, and monitored by our tutors. These projects help our learners develop their industry skills and gain the experience that will help them start their careers after their studies.

For students joining our Plumbing or Electrical courses, you’ll find that your study programme has been shaped by input from our employer partners. As a result, you’ll have access to interesting learning opportunities that are linked to technical skills and progression routes to give you the best possible start to your career.
