SUPPORTING STEVENAGE REGENERATION PLANS

North Hertfordshire College is partnering with Stevenage Borough Council to provide jobs and training as part of Stevenage town centre’s regeneration plans.

The Stevenage Works partnership agreement will focus on construction and business administration skills. Working together, the partners will provide training and job opportunities, including apprenticeships for young people and unemployed adults. Jobcentre Plus will identify local candidates and North
Hertfordshire College will deliver training in basic construction skills, as well as CV and interview training.

The council is also working with Wates and Mulalley on the refurbishment of 550 low rise flat blocks. All three contractors have committed to providing jobs and training through the Stevenage Works partnership.

“This course has pushed me to learn how to do so many new things. Getting the practical tasks right with the right measurements and fittings is really rewarding. Some of my favourite things in the practical lessons have been installing a sink, a radiator and working with LCS pipes.
Learning about renewable energy sources and how they tie in with plumbing was another high for me because I didn’t know much about this subject before I joined.”
