Application Hub

Welcome to NHC’s Application Hub

We’re excited you’re considering us for the next stage in your education journey! On this page, you’ll find helpful information about our application process and how everything works.

If you have a question about applying for a course that isn’t covered on this page, please contact us via our online form or by calling 01462 424242 to talk to a member of our team.

How does the NHC application process work for school leavers?

The way you apply for a course at North Hertfordshire College is slightly different to other colleges – instead of choosing a course, we now ask you to apply for a pathway.

A pathway contains all our courses for that curriculum area. This includes all the levels of study we offer, from Entry Level all the way to our T Levels and Level 3 courses. We’ve grouped them together to keep things simple, helping you work out exactly what it is you want to study and keeping all of those details in one place.

Take a look at our showcase pages to find your perfect pathway and start your NHC journey!

What happens after I apply?

When you make your application, we’ll then invite you to our Offer Days*. This includes a taster lesson to help you experience what it’s like to study at North Hertfordshire College. We’ll also ask you about any ideas you might have at this stage about careers and/or university.

Not got that bit planned out yet? That’s okay! The session isn’t a test, but rather a way for us to get to know you and make sure you’re on the right track for what you want to do in the future.

Offer Days start in January. Please keep a look out for an email from your curriculum administrator with more details about dates and times.

*Please note, if you have indicated on your application process that you have an EHCP, this application process might look slightly different. Our teams will be able to answer any questions you may have – please keep an eye out for their email.

Tell me more about Offer Days!

An Offer Day gives you the chance to experience what it’s like to be a college student.

As part of the session, you’ll have a chance to chat to our curriculum teams about your chosen pathway, test out our classrooms and facilities, and meet some of your future classmates to help you feel more confident about this exciting next stage in your learning journey.

The Offer Day will help us ensure you start your studies on the right course and level for you.

Once you apply, keep an eye on your inbox for a message from our curriculum teams to tell you more about when your Offer Day will be.

Financial support at NHC

It’s really important that you don’t let money matters get in the way of you attending college. If you think you are eligible for financial support, our Student Services team can help you start a financial support application ready for the start of your course in September.

How do I enrol on a course?

Enrolment is the final stage in your journey to become an official North Hertfordshire College student. It takes place in the summer, typically in mid to late August.

You’ll be contacted closer to the time with details about when your enrolment session is. This session will include a chat with our tutors and some final bits of paperwork to get you set up in our system. You may also need to make a payment for enrichment or equipment, but you’ll be told about this closer to the time.

Our Enrolment Hub will have all the information you need for your session, details about any fees, and any copies of forms to complete before you arrive.
