NHC T Level Bursary

T Level Bursary

Funded by the Department for Education

Are you 16-19 years old and thinking of starting your T Level journey with North Hertfordshire College? You may be eligible for our T Level Bursary to help support you with the costs of your industry placement (a mandatory requirement of the T level course)*

We know that the industry placement of the T Level qualification is a key component of your course, and provides excellent industry experience and skills. However, we also know there are additional costs involved in a placement, such as travel and uniforms. That’s why students on each of North Hertfordshire College’s T Level courses are eligible to apply for up to £275 each year they’re on a T Level placement to help pay for these costs.

How does the T Level bursary work?

You are eligible for up to £275 to help you with the costs of attending your T Level industry placement, such as travel and any specialist clothes you need to wear. Every T Level student can apply for this bursary regardless of your household income.

This is different to our standard bursaries for 16-19 year olds, which are designed to be used to cover costs for in-college days. The T Level bursary can be applied for in addition to the standard bursary, provided you meet both entry requirements.

How much money will I receive through North Hertfordshire College’s T Level Bursary?

You can receive £275 in the first and second year (a total of £550) subject to you being on track with your qualification and attending your industry placement.

Some of our T level courses include the full industry placement in one academic year. In this instance, students will be eligible for £550. Where placements are split across year 1 and 2 of the course, students will be eligible for £275 in both years.

Further details on the placements, the timing of these, and the bursary will be provided to you at enrolment. The payment will be made at the beginning of your placement.

How do I apply for a T Level bursary?

If you’re planning on applying for a 16-19 discretionary bursary, your T Level bursary will be automatically allocated to you and paid based on your attendance to your placement.

If you have a gross household income of over £35,000, you’ll be required to make an application for the T Level Bursary on PayMyStudent, which will be assessed and awarded for the T Level bursary only.
