At North Hertfordshire College, we’re so proud to have a team of expert tutors who have extensive experience in their relevant industry.

We’d like you to meet our new Course Leader for our Level 3 Film, TV and VFX course, Jonathan Vianello.

Jonthan has worked within the film and TV industry for years, and he’s now decided to challenge himself by supporting the next generation of film and TV talent.

We caught up with Jonathan to find out more about his journey into teaching:

What is your career background?

“I’ve worked in editing, production and cinematography. For example, I worked in post-production for a long-running, popular British car show. I also produced and edited a daily cooking show for Panamanian TV, and currently work as a Creative Brand Director for Hellavagirl Fashion Label.”

What do you enjoy most about working in this sector?

“I think the film and TV sector is pretty much creating magic. I really enjoy telling stories and making people question their perspectives on issues and daily life challenges.

“Moving into teaching, I’m keen to make a difference. I find delivering an education that reflects the needs of the current and future film and TV industry really rewarding.”

What made you apply for this role?

“I wanted a new challenge. I want to develop the best film and TV course in the East of England, recognised for delivering the best work experience opportunities and training for young people who want to work in film and TV.”

What are you most looking forward to working on in your new role?

“I can’t wait to help the students start a new online magazine series, as well as bringing in all my industry contacts to share advice and guidance for students to break into film and TV.”

How will your previous experience help you in this role?

“My extensive experience in film production will allow me to curate a robust and relevant course that challenges and inspires young people to explore a career in film and TV.”

Please tell us a fun fact about yourself.

“I’m a published UK Garage and House producer – my artist name is Joe Olindo.”
