Our Level 2 Travel and Tourism students have been giving back to the community through volunteering with Stevenage Borough Council. Through a link between our tutors and the council, our students received the opportunity to help out with the council’s initiatives for the local community and the green land.

Students got stuck in with a range of helpful activities at Hampson Park in Stevenage, from clearing an area and planting hedges to sowing seeds ready for the spring. Georgia Rollinson, one of our Level 2 Travel and Tourism students, said: “I really liked the activity. It was surprising how much we enjoyed planting the trees and clearing the land.”

Activities like these are not only great for the environment but also provide our students with a way to develop their skills outside of the classroom. These experiences will also support their CVs, helping prepare them for starting their careers.

Travel and Tourism tutor Vicky Lang is proud of the work her students accomplished. She described the experience as “a lovely afternoon spent in the fresh air helping out Stevenage Borough Council with their parks. It was a really wonderful experience for us all.”
