T Levellers Support KS1 Crystal Maze Team Building Festival

Published on November 14, 2025

Our Education and Early Years T Levellers collaborated with Stevenage Sporting Futures to hold a Crystal Maze-themed team building festival for local schools.

Nine Stevenage-based schools were invited to attend Barnwell Upper School for a jam-packed day of fun! Key stage one pupils had to complete a series of challenges, with crystals up for grabs if they won or displayed good teamworking skills.

Our T Level learners were each ‘buddied up’ with one of the schools and offered support and encouragement to help the children engage with the activities.

The team-building activities included balloon balancing, the hoop challenge, crossing the swamp, cup stacking and more!

One of our learners even stepped up to be an Event Leader, giving instructions to each school and supervising the activities to help them win the most crystals possible!

This super fun event provided our Education and Early Years learners with real-life work experience in coordinating and managing a key stage one activity. The hands-on opportunity helped learners build key skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability – bringing their classroom learning to life.

The Crystal Maze Festival was a huge success, each school had a brilliant time, and our learners were able to establish strong professional relationships with both the Stevenage Sporting Futures team, and the primary schools in attendance.

A primary school teacher who attended the event commented:

“The helpers we had were really good with our children and supported them the whole way round”

Tutor Michelle Chapman said:

“What a fantastic day we had! This is our first event with Sporting Futures, and we are hoping to partner more with the charity and engage with different groups throughout the year.  It was great to see the students working closely with the school children, practising their communication skills and ensuring the young children understood the activity.”

We’re super proud of our T Levellers, and we look forward to working with Stevenage Sporting Futures again in future!
