Here at North Hertfordshire College, we’re beyond proud to see what our students achieve each year. Whether it’s unlocking the grades they need to take their next study steps, or earning the qualifications they need for their career goals, results day is always a proud event.
This year, we’re delighted to share that our first cohort of T Level Early Years Educators have achieved excellent results for their first-year assessments. In fact, some of our students are amongst the top performers in the country!
Archie Bradfield and Olivia Smith both received A grades for their first-year assessments, making them part of only 8.7% of students in the country to achieve this top grade. A further three NHC T Level Early Years Educators – Louise Gurney, Katie Lewis, and Abbie Hurrell – achieved B grades, claiming their spot amongst the 27.6% of students nationally to receive these grades.
Reflecting on the achievement of his A grade, Archie told us: “It was a lot of hard work, but I believe that if you put the right amount of effort in, with the right amount of support from the tutors and all of the members of staff, then you can get the best grade out of it and you can get what you really need to reach your goals. That’s what I got from the College and I’m so proud of my grades.”
Abbie is also celebrating her achievement, having collected a B grade for her first year. She commented: “Choosing to take a T Level, I knew the journey wouldn’t be easy, but with the support of my peers and encouragement from all my tutors, I ended the year with a result I am proud of and the enthusiasm to make my second year an amazing year.”
The excellent results of our students come in the first year of North Hertfordshire College delivering the T Level in Education and Childcare: Early Years Education. The course is part of the new T Level qualifications, which combine classroom-based theory sessions with a more intensive industry placement than standard Level 3 programmes. They hold equal UCAS points to three A Levels, opening the doors to future opportunities for our students like university study.
That so many of our students have achieved these strong grades in their first year of the programme sets a strong precedent for their next and final year of the T Level and their future careers – we’re so pleased for them!
Vickie Sharp, Course Team Leader for T Level in Early Years Education and DfE T Level Ambassador, commented: “This was the first year of delivery and our T Level Early Years Educator students have absolutely smashed it. I’m so proud of them all and, judging by their results, they’re pretty pleased with themselves too – as they should be! Now let’s go and crack on with year 2, T Levellers!”
