North Hertfordshire College’s Supported Studies Sport and Active Leisure learners travelled to Cinch Stadium, home of premiership rugby team – Northampton Saints.
Saracens rugby club chose our learners to represent them in a friendly four-team SEN Rugby tournament against representatives from Bath, Bristol and Northampton Saints rugby teams.
The team got stuck in straight away with pre-match warm up activities and were ready for the competition.
With an exemplary display of teamwork and communication, our learners breezed through the competition and won all three matches for the Saracens – watch out Owen Farrell!
All of the teams demonstrated high standards of sportsmanship and respected one another throughout the whole tournament. It was a fantastic opportunity for our learners to develop their understanding of Rugby Union rules while engaging with other colleges in a competitive environment.
Our Supported Studies Sport and Active Leisure programme is designed to boost learners’ vocational skills through practical sessions and activities, boosting their knowledge of the broader sports industry, increasing career opportunities.
Learners on the course have enjoyed previous trips to sporting venues around the region to understand more about the different elements involved in sports, and the experience of playing in this friendly tournament is a brilliant way to bring classroom content to life.
