Our Creative Industries Supported Studies learners recently made their directorial debut on a trip to the University of Bedfordshire, an experience which has landed them a key role in supporting our Barbering students!
As part of their accredited assignment, the Creative Industries group worked alongside industry professionals to operate the University’s state-of-the-art live TV studios, radio labs, and photography studios, a very busy day indeed.
One of our Creative Industries Supported Studies learners commented:
“Bedfordshire University was a good experience because I learnt how to use the camera and see all the different areas in the university. I loved looking at the fashion area.”
Following the insightful visit, our learners applied their skills in a full-day photography session at our Stevenage campus. The mesmerising photos from the session were incredibly well received on our social media accounts, and our Barbering department wanted to get involved!
So, our Creative Industries Supported Studies group visited our Hitchin campus to collaborate with our Barbering students. The session started with a brief from our Barbering learners, before our Creative Industries group captured some seriously impressive professional headshots for our Barbers’ portfolios.
Establishing this cross-department connection has really sparked the aspirations of our Creative Industries Supported Studies students, demonstrating the incredible impact their skills can have and the range of possibilities within the creative industries. The sky is the limit!
Our learners’ visit to the University of Bedfordshire helped them gain essential industry-standard skills directly related to their studies, providing experience using professional equipment and boosting confidence in their abilities.
Through building connections with organisations like the University of Bedfordshire and other college departments while addressing the diverse needs of students, our Creative Industries Supported Studies learners are championing inclusivity and acceptance. We’re beyond proud of the work they’ve completed so far, and we cannot wait to see what else they create!
