North Hertfordshire College’s Supported Studies Pathways learners recently ran a treat-stall at our Stevenage campus. The event helped raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association’s Hertfordshire Branch, our college Charity of the Year.
As part of their ‘working safely’ Employability project, Pathways students explored how to run their own enterprise fundraising stall and learned how to complete individual risk assessments. Each group then headed off to research products they could make and sell to raise money for our Charity of the Year.
Check out some of the fab ideas they came up with below:
Pathways Group One: Motivational badges promoting themes such as neurodiversity awareness, mental health, and kindness.
Pathways Group Two: Delicious sausage rolls and bacon baps.
Pathways Group Three: Tasty cupcakes, stylish macrame keyrings, and jewellery.
Pathways Group Four: An assortment of tasty baked goods and three generous hampers.
After a busy period of preparation, our Pathways learners set up their stalls and raised a truly incredible £1,162 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association’s Hertfordshire Branch. A huge well done to the group!
As well as having fun preparing for the stalls, our learners also strengthened their customer service skills, boosted their communication skills, and successfully followed workplace instructions.

They were involved in every stage of the process, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow, especially when speaking with students and staff from other departments.
“The ideas they generated were incredible, and thanks to their creativity and hard work, they were able to raise a significant amount of money that will make a real difference to the MNDA charity”.
