Supported Internship Learners Recognised For Incredible Service During Placement

Published on February 26, 2024

Two of our Supported Interns, Ted Islip and Joel Irving, have recently been recognised for their exceptional service and attitude to work during their industry placement at Jordans Mill, a historic foodie tourist attraction in Biggleswade.

Our learners received not one, but two five-star reviews online celebrating their outstanding service – our interns impressed so much that they were mentioned by name!

We are so proud of our learners for upholding the high standards of Jordans Mill, they have thrived within their roles and have even taken on extra responsibilities within their placement.

Tom Herrera, General Manager at Jordans Mill commented:

“Where do I start, I’m so bought in to the boys’ success, I was just thrilled when I read these reviews. I’m a huge supporter of the project and it goes without saying that I am so happy with Ted & Joel’s development and offering here at Jordans Mill.

Who would have thought back in September, that we’d be looking like this now? With both the boys taking on so much extra work and responsibility, and at the same time, doing it with a smile on their faces, which is a testament to them both. The guests are noticing, and they like what they see, as do I. I’m so happy that we started this project last year, and although I’m already getting slight separation anxiety from losing them both at the end of this year, I look forward to continuing this exceptional project into the 24/25 year.”

Both Ted and Joel have really fit into the Jordans Mill team, learning valuable employability skills which will prepare them for adult life and future career opportunities.

Supported internships are work-based programmes designed for those with extra learning needs. Learners complete an industry placement at a relevant local employer to boost their employability and equip them with the skills needed for adult-life.
