When you study for a Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, and Hair and Media Makeup with North Hertfordshire College, you’ll learn a range of hair and makeup techniques as you build a portfolio of your creative designs. You’ll also work with our employer partners through work experience projects and guest speaker sessions so you can learn more about the industry you’ll be working in one day.

But don’t just take our word for it! We spoke to Erin Yendell, one of our current Level 3 students, to find out more about her NHC experience so far – read all about it in her Student Snapshot:

How would you describe your experience of your course so far?

“I’ve really enjoyed my tutor’s teaching. Mary is so helpful and gives us the time and opportunity to do different workshops on lots of different techniques, which I really enjoy; you can be very creative and expressive with makeup and special effects and play around with lots of different ideas, so I find the workshops are a good learning method for me.”

How have you worked with employers since starting your course?

“I’ve got some work experience coming up in December in a theatre, and I’ve been planning out and playing around with different ideas of looks I can create as part of it.”

What would you say to someone that’s thinking of applying for a course with North Hertfordshire College?

“I’d tell them that there is a really lovely atmosphere here at the College. One of the reasons why I chose the College was because it’s local to me, but it’s also really welcoming here.”
