30 of North Hertfordshire College’s Protective Services learners recently visited the Royal 3 Anglian Regiment to learn more about the platoon and career opportunities available after their NHC studies!
The informative session saw our learners explore the world of military roles and responsibilities, and the many different forms these take. The session included a presentation about the vital work the Regiment does and how individuals can join the Army reserves. The platoon also shared details about the levels of physical fitness that people need to meet before they can join the regiment, which gave our learners valuable insight into the expectations that the armed forces have for new recruits.
Our students even got to have a look at the cutting-edge operational equipment that the Regiment uses, helping to bring their in-class learning to life.
Liz Chatman, Head of Curriculum for Sport, Protective Services, Business, and Travel at North Hertfordshire College, commented: “The visit was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the diverse career paths within the armed forces. It also allowed our learners to explore how they might contribute to national defence and community service.”
The presentation and showcases weren’t the only ways our learners explored careers after North Hertfordshire College – Protective Services tutor Harry bumped into former NHC student Adam at the event, too!
Adam is near the end of his Police training, having completed his own protective services studies at North Hertfordshire College. He told Harry how much his NHC course has helped him in his training so far, especially with the content he learnt about police powers, searching techniques, and major incident responses.
Reflecting on his journey from college to career, Adam said: “Having the foundational knowledge really eased the pressure of training.”
