Recently, we held our very first Student Showcase Awards show, an event celebrating the outstanding achievements of our learners throughout the last academic year.
Tutors had the difficult task of selecting just two of their most exceptional students to be the Student of the Year and Highly Commended Student of the Year for their area.
The judging panel then selected the winners of the three NHC Community Awards based on the reasons why each curriculum winner was chosen. These awards celebrate the students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the North Hertfordshire College community.
We presented the Resilience Award to the student who had overcome challenges to achieve their goals, the Above and Beyond Award to the student who demonstrated exceptional commitment to NHC, and the Principal’s Award to the student who exemplifies each of the North Hertfordshire College values.
We were joined by students, their families and friends, governors and local employers who kindly supported some of our awards.
The evening began with a drinks and canapes reception, prepared and served by our incredible Hospitality and Catering learners. Smoked haddock arancini balls, Korean chicken, and pickled beetroot with vegan tofu dip were just some of the delicious items on the menu.
Guests then took their seats in front of the stage to start the awards ceremony! The room was bursting with pride as we listened to the inspirational achievements of our students throughout last year.
This year’s winners are as follows:
Richard Russum of Russum’s Catering Equipment commented:
“It was a pleasure to meet our student winners. All the winners were great representatives of the College and we’re pleased to support where we can.”
John Prebble of Junction 7 Creatives added:
“It was an absolute joy to be with you all last night at such a special evening celebrating the achievements and work of so many NHC students.”
A huge thank you to each of our employer partners, and every single one of our incredible learners. Looking forward to next year already!
