Students at North Hertfordshire College have been celebrating another year of strong GCSE results! Many of those who sat their GCSEs this year have studied maths and English alongside their chosen vocational and professional courses, helping them gain the skills they need for a successful career or to progress onto an apprenticeship or higher education.

North Hertfordshire College’s Principal Kit Davies said: “This year, we have seen another exceptional range of results and I cannot be prouder of our students. The results our students have achieved are representative of the incredible dedication and hard work they have shown, and it is thanks to their hard work and that of our talented tutors, that so many have achieved the grades they need to progress onto their chosen next steps. We are delighted with our student success this year.”

Many of the students who received their results today now have the foundation they need to progress in their career journey, either through further study, starting an apprenticeship, entering university, or starting a rewarding career.

Amongst those receiving their GCSE results was Stacey Richards, who now has the grades and confidence she needs for her next career step. She said: “When I first started studying GCSE English at NHC, I wanted to go into nursing or teaching. Now that I’ve got the qualification I need, I’ve decided to pursue a career in teaching. Studying GCSE English has given me the confidence to learn and achieve, as the learning was very accessible.”

Kayleigh McKivett, who also studied GCSE English part-time, said: “My English GCSE has given me a new confidence in my writing skills. I didn’t think I could do this before, but the support from my teachers has helped me to believe in myself. The environment at NHC has really allowed me to learn and thrive.”

Daniella Robbins, who studied for her GCSEs alongside her Access to Higher Education course in Nursing & Midwifery, is taking her new grades with her to university. She said: “I’ve got a place at the University of Bedfordshire to study Adult Nursing, which I’ll be starting in a few weeks. I could not have done it without NHC, and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received during my studies.”

Sandra Shirley completed her English GCSE alongside her Level 2 Team Leading qualification. She said: “This was an amazing experience. My next step is to go on to further education and keep learning, I want to study English at A Level and get a degree. I couldn’t have done this without the support of my teachers; I’m really proud of myself.”

Lewie Stewart O’Donnell is also happy with his GCSE English grade. He said: “I’m very happy to pass, I now feel more accomplished in myself. I’m going to keep going and keep learning, and then I’m going to apply to university. This is helping me feel more fulfilled in myself.”

The hard work that our students put into their studies has not gone unnoticed. Callum Freeman, Deputy Head of English at North Hertfordshire College, said: “A truly heartfelt congratulations to all of our GCSE students who collected their results today. The determination to achieve by every single one of you is outstanding and I can’t wait to hear about the next step in your journeys. Your excellent grades are a testament to the hard work you have put in all year, and just like the amazing tutors that helped to support you, I couldn’t be prouder.”

The College is now open for enrolment onto courses starting in September and looks forward to welcoming a number of students who have received their GCSE results today. For further information about our enrolment sessions, please visit our Enrolment page!
