We are super proud to announce that our North Hertfordshire College footballers are currently top of the league and they’ve managed to reach the final 16 of the English College Association National Cup.
Our under-18 male football team have been playing competitively since September, they’ve visited Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn and more to represent our college community with pride.
Coached by Sport and Public Services tutors, Leighton and Drew, the team is made up of learners from across a variety of courses:
Team Captain – Sam Moore
Vice-Captain – Antony Allen
Squad:
Every player included in the matchday squad is up to date with assignments, attends all their lessons, and demonstrates respectful behaviour in and around college. Each of them take these fantastic values with them when visiting other colleges.
Leighton, Sport and Public Services Tutor as well as Team Coach commented:
“So far this season has gone very well and we are excited as to what the second half of the season could bring us. The players have listened and really bought into our methods and ideas. We are very proud of the performances so far. With the ongoing support of everyone in the college we feel that we can win the league and hopefully continue our national cup run”.
North Hertfordshire College men’s football team captain, Sam added:
“I’m very proud of our team, we’re all really close and work well together. We’ve worked really hard this year and it’s great to see it paying off. I really enjoy training with Leighton and Drew, and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my teamwork skills as a result.
“I’m gaining experience in leadership through motivating the team and leading us to victory, it’s a great addition to my CV, and just really good fun. I’m excited to see how far we go, and I’m confident that we can bring home the trophy!”
Home matches take place at our Hitchin campus on Wednesday afternoons, if you have the time –come and support our NHC footballers!
