If you’re thinking of studying one of North Hertfordshire College’s popular Beauty Therapy courses, then you’re probably going to bump into Tracey Izzard at some point. Tracey is the course team leader for our Level 2 Beauty Therapy Courses, as well as the course tutor for the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Beauty Therapy.
Find out more about what Tracey does at NHC and her journey to teaching in our latest team interview!
What brought you to teaching at NHC?
“I first came to North Hertfordshire College to look for a course to try something new, and decided to complete my teacher training. I started as part-time agency staff in 2003 but took a full-time permanent role when it opened up and here I am, 20 years later!
“I’ve always tried new things, and love trying new products, techniques, and learning new things with the College is great.”
What do you enjoy the most about working at North Hertfordshire College?
“I really love seeing the students grow. Coming into the course, they learn about anatomy and physiology, beauty treatments, the skin, and what products do. Seeing them grow in confidence as they gain new knowledge is great… and then there’s the journey of learning and then going into employment, it’s all great to see.”
What would you say to someone interested in studying a beauty course at North Hertfordshire College?
“There are so many things that make studying at NHC great. We’re a very experienced teaching team who have a wealth of knowledge to give to our students. We have an excellent reputation with the wider community and I’ve even got students studying with us who chose NHC even though there is another college closer to them.
“We also have some great relationships with local employers who work with our students to provide some really valuable work experience opportunities, such as Bannatyne Spa at Fairfield Park and Champneys Spa in Henlow, just to name a few.
“We’ve also got Hart Salon here, so students get some great experience in working on clients, completing beauty treatments and gaining valuable skills to prepare them for employment in the industry.”
Do you have any closing remarks?
“Our Beauty courses really prepare the students for employment within the industry. Anybody who is interested should come and experience Hart Salon to see it for themselves, have a relaxing treatment, and see how amazing our students are. We’ve also got a new product launch event coming soon, so look out for that!”
