The mock interviews were a brilliant opportunity for students to gain important life skills, boosting their confidence, to further assist with achieving their qualification. Before sitting their mock interview, students researched and practised traditional interview questions with their tutors.
Springboard staff at both the Letchworth and Watford campuses worked with the ‘Herts County Council -Services for Young People’ (formally YC Herts) to get the following external companies: Hertfordshire Community Foundation; Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce; Mercedes-Benz of Hertford; Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership / HOP!; Herts Middx Wildlife Trust; Hertfordshire Music Service; University of Hertfordshire; HCC Day Services; East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust; Waitrose; Saracens Foundation to host mock interviews with students.
Following their interview one Springboard student said: “I enjoyed sitting the interview because it was in person and it was good practice for any interviews I might have in the future.”
Whilst another Springboard student said: “‘I enjoyed the fact it was over Microsoft Teams, I have now learnt the types of questions that may be asked at an interview.”
Herts County Council -Services for Young People Advisor, Ruth Woodcock said: “All of the students I interviewed were very well prepared and asked great questions. It was a wonderful morning and lovely to meet everyone. Good luck to all of the students for their future.”
Springboard Manager, Jennie Watts said: “The interviews with external companies in person and online provided a great experience for all of our Springboard students. The positive feedback from various companies proved invaluable. A big thank you to the employers for giving us their time.”
