North Hertfordshire College’s Level 2 Sport learners have successfully completed work experience with Premier Education in a range of primary and secondary education schools! This experience formed part of the 30-hour industry placement experience that our learners are required to complete as part of their Level 2 courses.
Our learners got stuck in with Premier Education’s Easter holiday programme, leading high-quality coaching sessions for school children aged 5+. As well as presenting a challenge in terms of working with children of a variety of ages and abilities, our learners were also tasked with delivering an exciting range of activities that kept the children entertained. This included indoor and outdoor sports, some team building activities, and more general support of the children.
This was a brilliant opportunity for our learners to apply their college learning to a real work experience. It’s also a great addition to the CVs of any of our learners who are planning on kicking off a career in youth sports after their studies with NHC to already have scored some practical experience working with young customers.
Kaiden Jones, one of NHC’s Level 2 Sport students, told us: “Working with Premier Education was great experience where I learnt how to coach younger children. The staff were great and I saw how this work experience placement helped with my Level 2 Sport programme.”
Daniel Eve, who works with Premier Education as their North Hertfordshire Area Coordinator, told us: “Easter was a massive success for the students. I’ve had great feedback from my colleagues at their placements as well as having the pleasure of working directly with a number of the students, too.
“We have taken a note of some of the students and will be looking to get into contact with them about potentially doing some summer paid-work with us, as we can see massive potential in them from their placement so far!”
