CARE + COMPASSION = CAREER SUCCESS

Published on February 2, 2022

Did you know that North Hertfordshire College’s Health and Social Care students take part in work experience placements as part of their course? These placements help our learners to apply their skills in a practical setting, as well as improve their CV, and in this case even gain them a permanent job – a win-win!

Charlotte Hathaway, Abigail Green, Kyla Shreeve, and Paris Chalkley, students from NHC’s Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care courses, have been working with Quantum Care at Jubilee Court Care Home for their placements. Together with the activities coordinators, our students have been supporting the provision of engaging and inclusive activities for the care home residents.

All our students have received positive feedback from the Jubilee Court team, which is great to hear! Ian, Jubilee Court’s Activity Coordinator, described the learners as being “keen to learn and really good with the residents. They show initiative and get on with everything without being asked.”

The placements have been so successful for our students that Paris has even secured a paid role as a carer at Jubilee Court outside of her placement! She said: “I have found the placement very beneficial, as it has helped me to leave my comfort zone and gain the ability to talk confidently to people I don’t know. It has definitely brought my confidence up and I look forward to going in every week.”

We’re really proud of how hard our students work when on their industry placements, and for representing NHC (and themselves!) in such a positive light. If you’ve got what it takes to join one of our Health and Social Care courses, why not check out our available course options?
