Tom Hardy, Hitchin Town Centre Manager and leader of the Hitchin BID, is supporting the Give a Future campaign and sharing his knowledge with NHC travel students, through a discussion on the importance of responsible tourism in the town centre.
Joining our students virtually in their lessons, Tom will talk about the strategies Hitchin town centre have in place as a responsible tourist provider. He will cover key issues such as the environmental impact of visitors to the town and how to get across the message about the importance of maintaining clean streets for a healthy and happy environment.
Tom has regularly spoken to our students about what it is like to run a successful tourist attraction in your local area and our students really value hearing his insights. They get first–hand knowledge from an expert, over and above their classroom curriculum content. They also gain a deeper understanding of the issues that they must consider when they start their careers.
Vicky Lang, NHC’s Travel and Tourism course team leader, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Tom back again this year to speak with our students. He is great at communicating his knowledge and passion to the students.
“Tom really helps bring the curriculum to life so the students can start to understand how to apply their learning in a real–world situation.”
