At North Hertfordshire College, we’re big fans of peer-to-peer-learning. Take the recent work our T Level Health learners did with a class of adult learners, for example!
Our second-year T Level students supported our tutors with a short Care and Nursing course for adult learners in our mock ward. They used the learning from their placements in local healthcare settings to teach the adult learners about how to use crucial moving and handling equipment like hoists and slide sheets.
After their hands-on practical session, the T Levellers-turned-tutors shared insights from their placement experiences in real-life healthcare environments with the adult learners, helping them think about their next learning and career steps.
Adult learners heard about the highlights and challenges involved in working in healthcare and started to explore career pathways they weren’t familiar with prior to the session.
Course tutors proudly watched the T Level learners share their extensive knowledge of the healthcare sector, broadening the horizons of our adult learners. Experiences like these are a great way for our students to reinforce their learning and understanding.
Leila, a T Level in Adult Nursing student who supported the peer-teaching session, commented: “It was so nice to talk to other learners from a different course and explain what I have been learning.”
