Congratulations to Maya, one of North Hertfordshire College’s T Level Adult Nursing learners, for winning two awards at the Heart Radio Hertfordshire Hero Awards 2026! Maya has been awarded both the Young Achiever and Future of Hertfordshire awards at the regional ceremony.
Maya was recognised for the incredible impact she’s made while working on her T Level placement with the Carer Experience team at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. She was nominated by families that she’s supported through her work, a powerful testament to the impact she makes every day.
Since starting her placement, Maya has supported over 170 local families with practical support, emotional reassurance, and essential resources to carers who are using hospital services. Maya’s work has created real, lasting change for the families she supports, offering not just help, but reassurance and direction when it’s needed most.
This isn’t the first time Maya has been recognised for her incredible work, either. In February 2025, she was named a Volunteer of the Month for her work helping families navigate the hospital and providing a friendly face to talk to.
Throughout her time studying at North Hertfordshire College, Maya has balanced her academic success, personal commitments and volunteering while demonstrating maturity and professionalism.
