North Hertfordshire College is delighted to announce that one of our Level 2 Beauty Therapy students, Rubie H, has taken the next steps towards her career thanks to a successful work experience placement! She is now working as part of Hush Skin & Beauty’s beauty therapist team after impressing them with her positive attitude and skills during her placement.
Rubie told us: “I really enjoyed my time at Hush. My placement was very helpful because I realised that I wanted to work in this environment in the future. They offered me a job there which I started in June, and I’m so excited to be working there officially.”
Rubie’s excellent work on her placement has not only secured her a job working in her dream sector, either – she’s also paved the way for future NHC beauty students to apply their own skills to real clients at Hush Skin & Beauty. We’re pleased to share that Katie, the manager of the Kneesworth Street salon, was so impressed by Rubie’s positive attitude and work ethic that she’d like to take another NHC student on for work experience in the future.
Katie told our team: “We’re always on the lookout for enthusiastic therapists to join our team,” and NHC’s students are a great way to meet that need.
Work experience placements are built into our programmes at North Hertfordshire College, helping learners to achieve their full potential and apply their skills to real work environments. This is a great opportunity for them to see behind the scenes of their chosen sector and learn from exciting local companies. Placements often also lead to learners growing more confident in their abilities as they showcase their talents in the workplace. For our Hairdressing, Barbering & Beauty Therapy learners, this experience is also supported by their time working in our on-site training salon, The Retreat.
Lindsey Simpson, Work Experience Co-ordinator at North Hertfordshire College, is delighted by Rubie’s achievement and the continued positive connection with Husk Skin & Beauty. Reflecting on the experience, Lindsey said: “We appreciate the valuable placements offered to our students by all the generous employers and organisations who support us with work experience. Thanks to them, our students can take their first steps into the specialist jobs that help them Go Far in their future.”
