Work experience is a key element to all of North Hertfordshire College’s courses for 16+ school leavers, and we’re proud to work with excellent employers who are excited about giving young people real experience. A great example is the continued collaboration between Mobility2You and NHC’s Computing, Networking & Design learners.
Mobility2You has delivered a work experience project with our Level 3 and T Level students, providing our students with the opportunity to develop a model data gathering tool which will be incorporated into Mobility2You’s risk assessment software. Alpesh Shah, Mobility2You’s founder and CEO, led a session on-campus to launch the project before tasking our students to complete research into a range of topics to help them design their questions.
The 25-minute questionnaire that the students have designed, tested, and refined will be included in Mobility2You’s intelligence- based risk assessment system and deployed in over 200 pharmacies across the country. In recognition of their work, our students will also be credited within the software – an amazing accolade for their CVs and university or apprenticeship applications.
Two of NHC’s Digital T Level students have also had the opportunity to work with Mobility2You by completing their industry placements with the company. They’ve been learning about selling, proposals, and have been helping with Mobility2You’s products as part of their experience. They even helped mentor the Level 3 students through their work experience project, too.
The T Level students have thoroughly enjoyed their placements, sharing positive feedback with our tutors and their peers. Luke told us: “My time at Mobility2You gave me a real insight into how a professional business operates day-to-day.”
Alfie, who is also completing his T Level placement at Mobility2You, agrees with Luke’s sentiment. He commented: “Seeing how different departments work together helped me understand how a company stays successful. Also, working at Mobility2You has made me more confident about my future career and what I want to achieve.”
As the students have been so positive about their work and are clearly enjoying themselves, the Mobility2You team will be developing the placement further by including the T Levellers in visits to pharmacies and staff training activities.
Working with companies like Mobility2You broadens the horizons of our Digital students, showcasing how so many industries have a need for IT and digital technology professionals. The placements and work experience projects also help our students feel like they’re making a difference to the community, providing motivation beyond simply developing their skills and CVs.
Reflecting on his company’s work with North Hertfordshire College, Alpesh told us: “It’s so important as companies to come in and give real life experience to students.
“All students have an inner wish to make a difference, to do something, but they just don’t know what that need is. Until they’re given that chance, they can’t find it – you need someone to give you a spark.
“Working with the students reminds me of when I was young, of having all the ambition in the world but just needing a catalyst.”
Thank you to Mobility2You for your continued support of our students.
