North Hertfordshire College’s Level 3 Health & Social Care students let their creativity run free during a session as part of their B.Youth course they’re completing alongside their studies!

Commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council and delivered by BeeZee Bodies, B.You(th) is a ten-week programme aimed at supporting young people in living healthier lifestyles. The course focuses on supporting health and wellbeing related subjects including social, mental, and physical health by exploring topics such as sleep, exam stress, confidence, and self-esteem. Our learners have engaged in a range of activities throughout the programme to help build their knowledge and understanding of these topics.

One of their most recent sessions was focused on mindfulness. Learners explored a range of self-care strategies during the session through a selection of practical activities, testing out different methods of managing anxiety. The homemade silky playdough activity proved to be a popular choice with our learners, providing a hands-on and tactile way to destress, refocus, and promote positive mental wellbeing.

Evie Bendon, one of NHC’s Level 3 Health & Social Care students participating in the B.You(th) programme, said: “The playdough activity provided a new and exciting way of learning which has helped increase my understanding of self-care and anxiety management. I’ll now be able to use these techniques when I feel stressed in the future.”
