North Hertfordshire College is celebrating another year of successful GCSE results for our students! Many of our learners who collected their final grades have completed their maths or English qualifications alongside their chosen vocational programme, helping them build the skills and knowledge employers are looking for.
With their new qualifications in hand, our learners will now be able to access new opportunities such as further or higher study, apprenticeships, or enter the world of work!
North Hertfordshire College’s Principal Kit Davies commented: “I am delighted to see the achievements of our students and I cannot be prouder of what they have accomplished. The incredible dedication and hard work of our learners and their tutors are reflected in these final grades. So many of our students have now earned the qualifications which they need to progress to their chosen next steps, and I am pleased to think of the opportunities that are now open to them. We as a college are delighted with our learners’ success this year and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.”
Amongst our learners who received their GCSE grades today was Ellice Cook, who will now be able to progress in her teacher training and work towards her career goals. She told us: “I’m just really happy with my results, just goes to show that school isn’t the end of everything – if you’ve walked out of school at 16 with lower grades than you wanted, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of your education journey. You just need to take a different pathway, and you’ll still get to where you need to be.
“I’ve already started my teaching training – I’ve completed my diploma – but my GCSE grade now means I have the chance to go on to complete my next year of the programme and get my full teacher status, so that’s definitely something to look forward to! I’m excited to see what life brings next.”
Louise Woodward, who collected her GCSE Maths grade today, has now opened up the possibility of a range of career pathways through her new qualification. She commented: “I’d like to thank Jane, because she was an incredible teacher. I worked really hard in my course, attended every lesson, and did all my work and it’s paid off. I came out of my exams feeling confident and sort of knowing that I’d passed – there’s always that chance that you haven’t but I’m very proud I did! This grade now means that I can get into working in advocacy for children in care, or I can continue in my career in estate agency. My GCSE has opened new doors.”
Other happy faces on results day included William Lynch and Sibongile Silas, who received the grades they need to be able to progress in their studies.
The achievements of our students have not gone unnoticed by teaching teams across the College. Rebecca Rutherford, Head of Maths & English for North Hertfordshire College’s Stevenage and Engineering & Construction Campuses, said: “We are so proud of the achievements of our students this year. They have all worked hard and many have overcome a number of barriers to ensure they get the grades they need to be successful in their future studies and careers. Congratulations to all of our learners today, these grades showcase their positive attitude and determination, and we wish them every success for the future.”
