One of the things that we’re really proud of at North Hertfordshire College is our great relationships with employers. As part of your course, you’ll often have opportunities to take part in work experience placements, listen to guest speakers from industry, and build your professional network as you progress through your course.
Our Beauty team recently visited the Bannatyne Spa at Fairfield Park to discuss opportunities for employer engagement with our students. Whilst at the spa, they bumped into two of our alumni, Mia Wallace and Gemma Kruger, who were both offered roles at Bannatyne following the completion of their course!
Mia and Gemma both started at NHC in September 2018 on the NVQ Level 1 Beauty Therapy course.
Together they then both worked through each level of the Beauty Therapy programme, building on their skills and expertise and utilising their learning to help improve their competence. During their level 2 course, Mia and Gemma started a work experience placement at Bannatyne Spa to develop their practical skills in a real life environment. Their performance during their placement went so well that the pair were offered permanent positions following the completion of their Level 3 Beauty Therapy courses in 2020.
They said of their experience, “we’re very happy working at Bannatyne and were so pleased when our placement turned into a permanent position, and now we are starting our career in the industry we love and continuing to develop our professional skills.”
Spa Manager Elaine is very supportive of the College, frequently offering our students work experiences, visits, and practical workshop sessions. She said, “I’m very happy to continue supporting the College and I’m looking forward to future working relationships.”
