Foundation Degree Computing Students Showcase Projects at University of Hertfordshire

Published on May 24, 2026

North Hertfordshire College’s Foundation Degree in Computing Technologies students recently had the opportunity to showcase their work at a University of Hertfordshire presentation event.

The learners produced posters which summarised their final work-based learning projects. They also complemented their displays with demonstrations of the practical elements of their work. Some of their research topics included software solutions, web and app-based projects, networking and cybersecurity ideas, database-driven systems, and other user-focused digital solutions.

Each student presented their individual computing projects in the university’s professional environment, explaining their research methods, planning, and development before delivering an overall evaluation of their final projects.

The event supported both academic assessment and employability skills, giving students valuable experience in presenting technical work clearly and confidently to a wider audience.

The showcase event also reflected the strong relationship between North Hertfordshire College and the University of Hertfordshire. Staff and students from across the Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium spoke to our learners about the purpose of their projects, the problems they were aiming to solve, the technical decisions they made, and the skills they developed throughout the process.

Students took some time to reflect on how far they have come since starting their course, too. Alhas, a university-level computing learner who attended the event, commented: “Choosing the FdSc Computing Technologies course was the ultimate turning point for me. This course proved to be a golden bridge to an undergraduate degree for me. It was a genuine second chance!

“For anyone who has realised their potential and is ready to work towards a bright future in tech – this is where you can prove what you are truly capable of. Do not let your past define your career — start here.”
