Employability Success with Metroline Travel

Published on March 3, 2026

We deliver Employability courses which help people aged 19+ successfully enter or return to work, no matter how long they’ve been unemployed.

Our strong relationships with local employers allow us to provide valuable training that helps learners gain the key skills, knowledge, and experience needed to feel confident throughout the job application process and beyond.

For example, our most recent Employability cohort have been working in partnership with Metroline, one of the largest bus operators in the UK. Our Employability team have supported twelve learners through a series of academic and employment tasks to prepare them for careers in the transport sector, equipping them with the specific skills Metroline are looking for.

This bespoke programme helped learners develop high quality customer service skills, boosting their confidence, and deepening candidates’ understanding of the expectations and realities of working in a public facing role. This cohort also had the opportunity to meet Metroline’s Garage Manager, Head of HR, and one of their experienced bus drivers.

A key component of the course focused on raising awareness of mental health, particularly the challenges that individuals can face when returning to work after periods of change, pressure, or personal transition.

By embedding mental health awareness into the curriculum, candidates are equipped not only with job ready skills, but also with the resilience and awareness needed to support themselves and others in a demanding yet rewarding sector.

This insightful learning opportunity helped our Employability candidates understand the day-to-day responsibilities of these three diverse job roles, and the professional behaviours expected of them. Learners left this session feeling confident and prepared for the next step in their own career journeys.

Employability Coach, Darran, commented: “As we look ahead, plans are already in motion for future programmes, further strengthening our partnerships. Employers increasingly recognise Hart Learning & Development as a leading provider of high-quality, job ready candidates whose training is tailored to organisational needs.

“This collaboration with Metroline reinforces our position as a front-runner in employability training and sector specific workforce development.”
