North Hertfordshire College is proud to share that Emma, one of our Level 1 Retail students, recently won an award from Services for Young People! We asked Emma to tell us more about her experience of winning the award – check out her open letter below!
“On Tuesday 7th November 2023 I went to an award night for Services for Young People. I was getting an award and I was accompanied by my big sister and my mum. We were celebrating my achievement.
“I was nominated for my achievement from when I attended the youth club. I held a session all about SEN and all the different types of Autism and ADHD. I held the session in February. I went to a staff briefing and then once everyone came in, I spoke to all the young people.
“Back to the nomination:
“I was nominated for the Be Ambitious.
“The manager called my name and said: “I would like to award Emma Lawrence for her hard work. She has been part of service for young people since 2019 and Emma has been a big part of the service. Emma has been to different youth projects in Letchworth Friday nights mega mix and Wednesday nights. It was coming up to her last time coming to the Letchworth Friday night youth club, and Emma decided to run a session about SEN. She went to the staff briefing and then ran the session for the young people”.
“Then I collected my award and had a photo with my trophy and then I got my certificate and then sat down.
“At the end we were getting ready to go and someone came to talk to me about how I feel about youth connections. They then asked if I would mind my photo getting sent to the newspaper and I agreed. I might be in the newspaper!”
Congratulations to Emma on your achievement!
