Our Sports, Coaching and Exercise Science learners recently jetted off to Berlin for some international work experience placements.
As part of the Turing Scheme, our students have been coaching local German football teams and leading afterschool basketball and football sessions.
The Turing Scheme enables young people to work or study abroad to complement their college studies, helping them learn about different cultures, improve their language skills, and gain valuable employability skills which are crucial for succeeding in a globalised environment.
Students on the scheme receive grants to cover travel expenses, living costs and administrative costs, making this an accessible initiative for learners of all backgrounds.
This year, Sports and Exercise Science student, Emily, completed an international work placement at a pre-school in Berlin. Her responsibilities included supporting daily activities like feeding the children and assisting with craft activities, but her primary role was to engage the children in sport and physical exercise tasks.
Check out some of the fantastic feedback Emily received from her employer in Berlin:
“During her time with us at the kindergarten, Emily proved to be a valuable and reliable member of our team. She consistently supported us with a variety of daily activities, including feeding the children, assisting with drawings and handicraft, and most notably, engaging in sport and physical activities with the children. Her active involvement and positive energy helped create a fun and supportive environment.
“Emily was always punctual and dependable. Her sweet, mature and gentle approach made her especially well-liked by the children and appreciated by the staff. Overall, she was a great help in our daily routines, and we sincerely thank her for her contribution. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
We’re incredibly proud of Emily’s work, a huge well done!
