MBDA DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP FOR SPORTS STUDENT

Published on June 8, 2022

There are many doors open to North Hertfordshire College students when they finish their studies with us, even doors leading to career pathways that aren’t traditionally connected to a student’s curriculum area. We’re proud to share that Sophie, one of North Hertfordshire College’s Sport Coaching and Development students, has secured a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship with MBDA following the completion of her course!

Having built a strong set of transferrable skills over her studies on her course, Sophie interviewed for MBDA’s degree apprenticeship programme in their Sales and Business Development department. She was shortlisted for the role from a pool of 3,000 applicants and is now preparing to start her career with the company in September! As part of her apprenticeship, Sophie will also be studying towards a Chartered Management degree at the University of Hertfordshire for one day each week.

Sophie said of her time with NHC: “Throughout college, I have always been active in looking for work experience and opportunities to help me grow and develop. The College has supported me through 1-to-1 sessions every half term, helping me set clear goals and targets to work towards. These sessions, as well as the support from my tutor, have helped me stay on track and take advantage of the opportunities given to me in regard to interview preparation and advice. I am very happy with my time at NHC, and the team have definitely helped guide me to this amazing destination!”

Ryah Vyse, one of NHC’s tutors in our Sport and Public Services department, commented on Sophie’s achievement, saying: “This is an amazing opportunity and something she has worked extremely hard for.”

Congratulations again to Sophie, we look forward to watching your career develop!
