At North Hertfordshire College, we’re incredibly proud of the fantastic careers, degree courses, achievements and adventures our alumni undertake after completing their course.
Take Zoe, for example, who completed a Sports, Coaching and Exercise Science programme with us last year.
You might remember her taking part in some fantastic work experience with Formula 1’s Alpine racing team!
Since then, Zoe started studying towards a degree in Multimedia Sports Journalism at the University of Central Football Business and she’s been busier than ever!
Back in March, Zoe was lucky enough to secure a press pass for the England versus Latvia World Cup qualifier match. She had the best seats in the house, watching the match from the press zone. Then, she headed to the press conferences and sat just meters away from England manager, Thomas Tuchel! We’re not jealous at all!
We were super excited to catch up with Zoe to hear all about her time at university so far:
How did NHC support you in preparing for your current course?
“Both Chris and George pushed me to do my best, I left NHC with results I was really proud of. They were also part of the reason as to why I went on to uni because I enjoyed the learning at college.”
What topics/skills that you learnt at NHC do you use in your current course?
“Referencing! I got to uni with a head start, to the point where I was teaching my classmates how to reference! When in college, we learnt how to reference and how to write a good academic essay from day one.”
Where do you hope to be in five years’ time?
“A professional sports media company. Somewhere like Sky Sports News would be the dream. Currently just focusing on the now!”
What would you say to someone who is thinking of studying at NHC?
“Do it. Before I joined NHC, I was at a sixth form where I felt so out of place. I left the sixth form and went to college where I felt more like an adult. The course was more focused on the topic I truly wanted to do.”
