"Don't wait to do the things that excite you, get involved and show your enthusiasm. We're always looking for someone with a keen interest in their field."
We’re really grateful for all of the employers who took the time to visit our campuses recently for our Careers Week events. Not only did our students have the opportunity to find out more about the variety of careers that are open to them once they leave North Hertfordshire College, but the employers were also kind enough to share their top tips for standing out when applying and interviewing for a job.
Our students got to speak to a number of employers and university representatives across a whole host of industries, from STEM to sport to childcare. Key themes that ran through the tips our students received included demonstrating your enthusiasm for a role and a hard-working attitude. Having a passion for your industry and doing your research into the opportunities on offer are the best way to make sure you’re prepared for entering your career!
The Careers Week event was organised by NHC’s Student Services team, who help organise The Bridge programme and personal development opportunities. Claire Cooper, Head of Student Services and NHC’s Careers Lead, recognises the importance of activities like these. She said: “careers activities aim to help students understand their chosen industry, the labour market, the opportunities available in each industry and explore routes into industry such as university, apprenticeships and further study. We’re really lucky to have such great connections with employers to support our students.”
Check out some of the top tips from employers and universities in the carousel below and be sure to look out for future careers events on our Campuses!
