NHC’s Level 3 Business students enjoyed a visit to the Apple store in Watford for an exciting digital skills session!
The learners worked with the creative team to develop a variety of skills they can use in their current studies and future careers. This included learning key presentation skills, top tips for working with Apple products, photography advice for marketing products, and even how to code an app. Each student picked their workshop in line with their desired destination and what they’ve identified as something they struggle with, helping improve their work in their future units.
Enisha Basra, Course Team Leader for Level 3 Business, commented: “This trip helped our learners to develop their top 10 skills, a huge one for business being digital skills. They’re now more prepared for working life using Apple products, as the technology is used within the majority of businesses. Having the confidence to use these products and being able to add these skills to their CVs will massively strengthen their applications.”
The skills covered in the sessions will be embedded during future teaching sessions, where students will work on their digital skills. In particular, the presentation skills that learners have developed will help them to achieve even better grades when completing their assignments.
Reflecting on their experience at the Apple store, Level 3 learner Cobie Hale said: “I usually dread presentation work as I never know how to make it digitally appealing. After the trip, I feel a lot more confident to do so and the team were so friendly. I learnt features such as how to add my own speech and videos to the presentation.”
And that’s not all! The skills sessions have also helped our learners to think more creatively about their future career plans and how they can start working towards their dreams using the resources they already have. Daniel Watson, current Level 3 Business student, told us: “Meeting the Apple team was great, I learnt brand new skills using an iPhone camera. This is perfect for my future plans, as I want to go into videography and eventually open my own business.”
