North Hertfordshire College’s Level 2 Beauty Therapy students were joined by NHC-alum Chloe Dellar and current student Tia Pierson for a career session about Aqua Sana.
During the session, Chloe and Tia spoke about the benefits of working with Aqua Sana including the additional training and development they receive through their jobs. The pair also shared details about the types of treatments they complete in their roles. To help our learners truly understand the pampering experience and the way that treatments are performed, they even demonstrated an ‘express facial’ and a neck and back massage on our learners!
Another key element of the session was reflecting on how their diplomas and North Hertfordshire College have helped them through their career journey so far.
Chloe studied with NHC in 2016, where she completed her Level 2 Beauty Therapy diploma before securing a job with Centre Parcs’ Aqua Sana spa as an Express Therapist. In this role, she completed quick, ‘express’ treatments for guests including facials, manicures, and pedicures. She has now been working with the spa for seven years and has been promoted to her current role as a Core Therapist.
Reflecting on the experience of returning to NHC for a slot as a guest speaker, Chloe told us: “I was delighted to be asked to come back to the College where my beauty therapy career began to showcase our techniques with the current students. I really value working with the future generation of beauty therapists and showing them the opportunities that are open to them when they qualify.”
Level 3 Beauty Therapy student Tia has followed a similar career journey to Chloe. Tia completed her own Level 2 Beauty Therapy diploma in 2022 before progressing onto the Level 3 programme, which she is on track to complete in the 2022/23 academic year. She joined the Aqua Sana team on work experience as an Express Therapist in March 2023 and we’re pleased to share that she’s worked so hard and performed so well that she’s set to be promoted to a Core Therapist when she finishes her Level 3 course.
She commented: “It has been a brilliant opportunity for me to have my college work experience develop into a career, and I’ve really enjoyed being on the other side of the classroom and talking to the students about what they could achieve with hard work and motivation in their own placements.”
Tracey Izzard, Course Team Leader for Level 2 Beauty Therapy at North Hertfordshire College, told us: “It was fantastic to welcome Chloe and Tia back to NHC. Not only did they share fantastic insight into techniques used in a busy salon, teaching our students the skills they need, but it also gave our students a really motivational insight into where they could be in just a few years’ time. The journey from college to career was really showcased by inviting Chloe and Tia back in to meet our current Level 2s.”
