Meet Sarah Welch, a recent graduate from NHC’s Access to Higher Education course. With her new qualification under her belt, Sarah will be joining the University of Hertfordshire’s BSc (Hons) Child Nursing course!

In her Student Snapshot, Sarah told us about her experience of studying with North Hertfordshire College and shared some of her top tips for anyone who is thinking about joining an Access to Higher Education course themselves.

How would you describe your experience of your Access to HE course?

“I found the course hard but rewarding! After being out of education for so long it was a shock to the system, but I settled into it quickly – mainly due to the tutors and my peers! I’m so glad I picked NHC to study, and my experience has been so positive that my eldest daughter is thinking of doing this course.”

What would you say to someone that’s thinking of studying Access to HE at NHC?

“I’d say make sure you want the end qualification so that you stay motivated. Make a timetable for studying and stick to it, so that you stay on top of everything. Make sure you speak to your tutors if you’re struggling, as they aren’t that scary!

“This course takes a lot of commitment and resilience, but the feeling of finishing it is amazing and something I’ll never forget or regret! Thank you to the whole Access team, you’ve definitely all taught this old dog new tricks!”
