T Level Refurbishment

Shiny new facilities, now open at our Stevenage campus ✨

North Hertfordshire College has brought the industry into our classrooms with our recent refurbishment. We’ve invested £2.25 million in industry-level facilities and specialist equipment that will be used across our new T Level courses and our curriculum as a whole, including apprenticeships!

Take a sneak peek into our plans and explore the work that’s going into our shiny new teaching spaces:

Digital Suites

Not one, not two, but three of them!

This is a game-changer for our Computing students. We’ve invested in graphics cards and high-spec machines to help our Digital T Level students to code and program to their hearts’ content. The teaching spaces have been redesigned to ensure each student has the space to work on their projects and also collaborate with their peers as needed.

These spaces are also used by other learners across the College, helping them build the crucial digital skills they need for their work and personal lives.

Mock Hospital Ward

Bringing industry standards into our college campus

Designed to simulate a real-life hospital ward, our facilities help our learners and apprentices gain practical experience ahead of their industry placements. In fact, the mock ward is set out to NHS standards from the equipment and beds used in the space, right down to the clearance zones between each bed. We’ve even included dummies so that learners can practice their bedside manner, too.

Through using this space, learners gain a greater understanding of what it’s like to work within industry expectations. This in turn enables them to feel more confident when it comes to starting their care careers and helps them shine from their very first day.

Mock Independent Living Space

We care about your future career

Our mock independent living area and adjoining flexible teaching area are designed to give our Health & Social Care learners the skills they need for success. The independent living flat is fitted with accessible technologies, including a hoist, so that our learners can get hands-on experience in using these tools ahead of working with real patients on placement and in employment.

There’s even a mock kitchen with amenities so that learners can roleplay a real shift of working with patients in their own homes.

Lecture Hall

Time to take notes!

The large open space of our shiny new lecture hall makes it the perfect location for larger teaching sessions. The furniture can be moved around to suit the needs of each class – whether that’s smaller breakout options or a standard lecture hall environment.

The area features some timber panelling on the walls for better acoustics and sleek laminate flooring to create a professional and calm space you’ll be proud to study in.

Employer Zone

Bringing your next opportunity directly to you

The Employer Zone and Student Services area, located in the centre of our atrium, is a dedicated area for employers to engage with our students and staff. This is key to the delivery of our T Level programmes, helping to connect students with opportunities for the 45-day placement segment of their qualification.

The Employer Zone is also home to breakout spaces and private study areas which allow our amazing Student Services team to deliver support to all our learners.

Learning Resource Centre

Shhh… we’re studying in here

Our Learning Resource Centre is designed to provide a quiet and private place for our learners to study in. This new space features a broad variety of study options that our learners can pick from, from designated computer spaces and hot desks, to group tables and informal sofa study spots.

No matter what assignment or unit you’re working on, our LRC has an option that’s perfect for you.

Gaming Suite

Level up your skills

This state-of-the-art learning environment has been equipped with high-spec technology to maximise the learning experience of our digital T Level students. With specialised gaming chairs, monitors and a range of consoles, our new Gaming Suite is the perfect environment for our digital learners to thrive.

Nutrition Suite

Serving up your future!

Our Nutrition Suite supports our early years educators in creating engaging lesson plans which incorporate the curriculum whilst also promoting healthy habits in young children. They can then apply these plans in their own lessons in the future.

Health Lab

Make breakthroughs and discover the secrets of the human body

This dedicated space was designed to help Health and Social Care learners develop their understanding of the science behind key concepts like bacteriology, immunology and infection prevention, preparing them for a broad range of job opportunities in the sector.
