Tailored Learning – Introduction to Carpentry

This course is designed for women who want to try something practical and creative. This course is ideal for those new to carpentry.

Whether you’re interested in DIY, home improvement, or exploring a new skill, you’ll gain confidence using tools and creating simple woodwork projects from scratch.

This course is one of our Skill Boosters and fully-funded, meaning you may not need to pay any tuition fees. Most people are eligible for funding for this course. This beginner-friendly carpentry course introduces you to essential woodworking skills in a safe and supportive environment.

You’ll learn how to accurately measure, mark, cut, and assemble wood using a range of hand tools and basic equipment.

The course focuses on practical, hands-on learning, allowing you to complete simple projects while developing core techniques. You’ll be guided through safe working practices, tool handling, and understanding different types of wood and materials.

As your confidence grows, you’ll apply your skills to small builds, helping you see real progress and tangible results. The course also introduces problem-solving techniques, ensuring you can adapt your approach when working on different projects.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence to tackle basic carpentry tasks at home, and a solid foundation for further learning or progression into more advanced woodworking.
