EVERYDAY ENGLISH FOR BEGINNERS

What you need to know

IS THIS FOR ME?

This course is ideal for adults who are new to learning English and have very limited or no prior experience with the language. It is especially suited to individuals working at a basic level who need a gentle, supportive introduction to English in everyday contexts.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN?

English in Context is a short, part-time course designed for adult learners whose first language is not English. Aimed at individuals working at a basic level, this introductory programme offers a supportive and accessible route into English language learning. Unlike our main ESOL provision, this course is open to the public and focuses on building foundational English skills through a picture-based, thematic approach.

Learners will explore everyday vocabulary and simple communication in practical contexts such as shopping, healthcare, and education. This method helps build confidence and supports greater engagement with local services and the wider community. The course is particularly suitable for those with very limited English and may serve as a stepping stone to our Entry Level ESOL programmes.

Eligibility for free tuition depends on individual immigration or refugee status, in line with existing funding rules.
