HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The AIQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing provides access to the ever-growing industry of health, fitness, and leisure by equipping you with the necessary tools to become a professional fitness instructor.

This course gives you an insight into the applied theory of anatomy, physiology, and fitness, in addition to understanding the principles of professionalism and customer care. You will apply these skills using real-world gym-based scenarios through the delivery of client consultations and health screening. Based on this customer care, you will then learn to plan and instruct gym-based exercises using our brand-new gym facilities and equipment.

The course is a blended approach, meaning you will be expected to complete in-person work in addition to independent study tasks at home.

Completion of this qualification will allow you to find employment in a wide variety of locations, from large commercial gyms to boutique fitness studios.

Achieving your AIQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing will also prepare you for progression on to the AIQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 16+.
Ideally, you should have some experience of gym-based exercises, as participation in a variety of gym-based practical sessions will be required throughout the qualification.
You should also have good verbal and written communication skills at level 2 (GCSE / Functional Skills pass grade) or above/

Students who are currently aged 16-19 and are already studying a vocational qualification at NHC will be able to enrol through invitation only.

Future Study

Our Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing can lead to employment as a gym instructor.

This qualification can also lead to further training at the same or higher levels, including our level 3 personal training course.
