INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE PATHWAY

What you need to know

ABOUT THE PATHWAY

Develop your understanding of 3D design through NHC’s Interior Design & Architecture pathway! This is your opportunity to explore a range of opportunities and start your dream career.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN?

On North Hertfordshire College’s Interior Design & Architecture pathway, you’ll develop a strong foundation in the principles of 3D design. You’ll also gain an insight into the varying roles available in the interior design and architecture sector and the broad range of opportunities that are open to you after your studies with NHC.

The first year of your course will see you explore new skills and techniques, before you refine and hone them in your second year. Some of the topics covered in this pathway include:

  • Principles of ethical and sustainable design
  • Perspective drawing
  • An understanding of contemporary and historic design practices
  • 3D model-making and CAD design using industry software
  • Interior design, styling, and trend forecasting.

You’ll also develop core skills that will help you throughout your career such as how to work with clients on live briefs, how to provide professional critiques, and effective pitching and presentation techniques.

By using the latest software (including NHC’s VR and AR technologies) and learning about industry design practices, you’ll explore new opportunities and find your dream role within the sector. With the work you undertake through lessons and working against live briefs, you will build your design portfolio to showcase your achievements and your creative eye.

We consulted local employers when designing this programme to ensure you meet the key skills they’re looking for, making you more employable and starting you on the path to success. With these skills on your CV, plus your understanding of cultural, ethical, and sustainable design practices, you’ll be able to confidently apply for further study or junior roles in the creative sector.
