FASHION PATHWAY

What you need to know

ABOUT THE PATHWAY

Got a vision for the fashion styles of the future? Build your skills and launch your stylish career with NHC’s Fashion pathway!

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Join NHC’s Fashion pathway to bring your creative visions to life and let your stylish side shine. Our expert teaching teams will help you develop and test your creativity by refining your skills and techniques, as well as explore how you can create a career from your talent.

You’ll have access to our workshop spaces and our industry-standard equipment, like sewing machines, print-making spaces, and photography equipment, as you work through assignments and build your portfolio. You’ll also have opportunities to showcase your work to friends, family, and the local community through our end-of-year exhibition and regular competitions such as the Royal Opera House Design Challenge.

Skills you’ll build on this pathway include:

  • Textiles, pattern cutting, and garment construction
  • Printmaking and designing for different materials
  • Market research and presentations
  • Critical reflection

We regularly bring industry experts into the classroom to share their perspectives and experiences of working on projects. Work experience is built into this pathway, so you’ll have the chance to apply what you’ve learnt from these guest speakers and your classes to real work tasks.

The course in this pathway is awarded by the University of Arts London and, as an NHC student, you’ll have opportunities to apply for their Insight Programme in London over half-term breaks and the summer holidays.
